I would like to share another free PDF sewing pattern for you today, which is a kids' paneled A-line skirt.
The link to download the pattern is provided below.
This paneled A-line skirt features a flattering A-line silhouette made from eight fabric panels sewn together. This design creates gentle flair and provides extra movement, making it both functional and stylish. Here's a quick overview of its features:
1. Panels: In this skirt, multiple fabric pieces are sewn vertically creating a visual effect of seams. Panels may vary in number depending on the style. I have included eight panels in this pattern---four each for the front and back.
2. A-line Shape: The skirt flares out slightly from the waist down, resembling the shape of the letter "A". This is comfortable and ideal for active kids.
3. Materials: You can make this skirt from cotton, polyester blends, denim, or soft knit fabrics for durability and comfort. You can use patterned or solid colored fabrics.
4. Waistband Options:
I have included a elastic waistband for ease of wearing and adjusting.
5. Length: I have made it to knee-length for easy movement.
6. Details:
You can sew embellishments like embroidery, buttons, or patches for added charm.
How much fabric do you need to make this skirt?
You will need about 1 yard of fabric for sizes 1 to 4 and 1 1/4 yards of fabric for sizes 5 to 12, if you want to cut all the panels from a same-colored fabric. Please refer to the fabric requirement chart below.
You can also cut the panels from different colored fabrics.

Print the pages on A4-size papers. Make sure you have set page sizing to "Actual size" before you print the pattern.
Do not select the "Custom scale" option or the "Choose paper size by PDF page size" option.
You can measure the 1 inch x 1 inch square in the pattern page to check whether the page has printed correctly.
Pattern Assembly:
There are 9 pages in the pattern, which should be arranged as in the diagram below:
Seam and Hem Allowances:
Seam and hem allowances are included in the pattern.
How to Sew the Skirt?
You need to cut eight panels---2 center panels and 2 side panels for the front and 2 center panels and 2 side panels for the back.
The steps for sewing this skirt is similar to those for the 8-gore flared skirt I have posted already on this blog.
This is a beginner-friendly project. You can mix and match fabrics of different prints and colors to create a visually appealing skirt for your little one.
Happy Sewing!
