The measurements of the doll I used are

Cut the pattern out.

Cut the pattern pieces:

Cut two pieces for the skirt on a folded fabric as shown in the image below, one for the front and one for the back.

Let's start sewing:

Join the sides:

With right sides facing, join the sides of the skirt.

Serge or zigzag the edges of the side seams, or trim the edges using pinking shears.

Hem the bottom of the skirt:

First, fold the hemline 0.25 inch down the wrong side and press well.

Again make a 0.50-inch fold, press well, and sew along the folded edge.

This is how the skirt looks when you turn it inside out.

Elastic waist:

Fold the waistline of the skirt 0.25 inch to the wrong side and press well.

Again make a 0.50-inch fold, leaving a 2-inch opening to insert the elastic.

Feed the elastic through the opening (length of the elastic = waist measurement minus 1 = 11 inches - 1 inch = 10 inches, width of the elastic = 1/4 inch). I have used an 1/2-inch elastic in this tutorial, as I didn't have a 1/4-inch-wide elastic on hand, but 1/4 inch works better
.

Overlap the ends of the elastic by 0.50 inch and sew zigzag stitches to secure it.

Sew the opening closed, turn the skirt inside out, and that's it, you have made a cute A-line skirt for your doll.

This is how the pattern tiles should be arranged:

Size Chart:

This is the size chart I used. Measure your kid's hip round and compare the measurement with the hip round measurement in the size chart to find the correct size.

Seam allowances:

Seam allowances are included in the pattern: Skirt: 3/8 inch at the waistline, 1.25 inch at the hemline, and 1/2 inch at the side seams.

Waistband: 1/4 at the top, 3/8 at the bottom, and 1/2 inch at the side seam.

Suggested fabrics:

You can use a variety of fabrics to make this top, such as quilting cotton, gingham, linen, seersucker, etc.

This skirt will look even beautiful if you add some creative contrasts and some buttons or bows.

How to sew the A-line skirt:

You will find the step-by-step instructions to sew this skirt at this link. Please use a 1.5-inch-wide elastic (not a 1.25-inch-wide elastic as shown in the sewing tutorial), as I have increased the width of the waistband in this pattern.

Sewing a sleeveless A-line top for an 18-inch doll can be a fun and rewarding project! Here's a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed:

Cotton or lightweight fabric (scraps work well)

Coordinating thread

Velcro or snaps for closure

Suggested fabrics and fabric measurements:

A 9 x 15-inch (23 x 38-cm) fabric or a 17.5 x 7-inch (45 x 18-cm) fabric is enough to make this 18-inch doll top.

You can use any kind of lightweight fabrics to make this top, such as quilting cotton, gingham, linen, seersucker, etc.

Steps:

1. Download the Free PDF Pattern

How to Print?

This is a two-page PDF file.

Print the page on an A4 paper. Make sure you have set page sizing to "Actual size" before you print the pattern.

You can measure the 1 inch x 1 inch square in the pattern page to check whether the page has printed correctly.

Seam allowances:

Seam allowances are included in the pattern, which is 0.25 inch for the neckline, shoulder, and armhole, 0.75 inch for the hemline, and 0.50 inch for the side seams.

2. Cut the Top Pattern Pieces from the Fabric Using The Pattern Template

Fold your fabric in half, pin your pattern pieces, and cut:

1 front piece on the fold.

2 back pieces.

Cut some 1 inch wide bias fabric strips to finish the raw edges of the armholes and the neckline. I didn't have a long strip of fabric, so I had to cut a few short pieces, which I joined together to create the length I needed.

3. Sew the Shoulder Seams

Place the front and back pieces right sides together.

Sew the shoulder seams with a ¼-inch seam allowance.

Press the seams open and zig-zag or serge the raw edges or you can use pinking shears to trim the edges.

4.  Finish the armholes

Take two bias strips.

Fold the bias strips in half.

Pin the folded bias strip around the armholes on the right side, and sew all around.

5. Sew the Side Seams

Do not fold down the armhole bias strips yet to the wrong side.

With right sides together, pin the side seams including the unfolded bias strips.

Sew the side seams with an 1/2-inch seam allowance.

This is how it looks on the wrong side. Press the seams open.

Hand-stitch the armholes using a blind hem stitch for a neat, professional finish.

6. Finish the Neckline

Use a small piece of bias tape (about 13 inches long and 1 inch wide) to make a binding for the neckline, which you can sew around the neck opening.

Fold the edges of the back extensions to the wrong side by 1/4 inch and press.

Fold again by 1/2 inch and press.

Trim the folded edges to the shape of the neckline.

Flip the folds to the right side of the top like so.

Pin the bias tape to the right side of the neckline like so, while keeping the back extension folds intact.

Sew the bias tape to the neckline with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Make small slits all over the seam allowance. Make sure you don't cut through the stitch line.

Now, fold the bias tape to the wrong side and sew along the neckline to hold the folded bias tape.

This is how it looks on the right side.

Flip the folded button closures to the wrong side and fold down the bias tape again to the wrong side and sew along the folded edge. I hemmed it by hand.

7. Hem the Bottom Edge

Fold the bottom edge under 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch again to create a hem. Sew close to the folded edge.
